ultrasonic technology extraction method for propolis
Product Description
Propolis: It is a gelatinous substance made by bees collecting resin (gum) from plant spores or tree trunks, mixing it with secretions from the glands in the bees' mouthparts, and processing it with pollen and beeswax. It is the protective umbrella of the beehive;

How to extract Propolis?
as for the supercritical extraction is not widespread due to the technology and equipment, the cost of expensive, has not been applied to the actual processing.
propolis extraction machine- Propolis purification generally by ethanol extraction method, is widely used at present: crushing to miscellaneous, ethanol dissolve, sediment dewaxing, fine membrane filter, vacuum extraction, condensation recovery to obtain pure rubber...etc
Process Flow
The production process of propolis extract is a complex and refined process aimed at effectively extracting its active ingredients from propolis. The following are the detailed steps of the process flow:
1、 Raw material preparation
Collecting propolis: Firstly, collect selected propolis raw blocks from bee nests. These propolis blocks should be ensured to be free of impurities and contamination to ensure the quality of subsequent extracts.
Pre treatment: Pre treat the collected propolis blocks, including removing surface impurities, dust, etc. Sometimes it is necessary to crush or grind the propolis blocks to increase their contact area with the extraction solvent and improve extraction efficiency.
2、Extraction
There are various methods for extracting propolis, but common extraction methods mainly include solvent selection: selecting high-purity edible alcohol as the extraction solvent. Ethanol has good solubility for most of the active ingredients in propolis, such as bioflavonoids.
Mixing and extraction: Mix the pre treated propolis with ethanol in a certain proportion, usually by placing the propolis powder in an extractor, adding 90% ethanol (the ratio of propolis weight to ethanol volume is 1:4), and stirring and extracting at an appropriate temperature (such as 40). This process may need to be repeated multiple times to improve extraction efficiency.
Filtration and Separation: Filter the extract to remove impurities and undissolved substances. The filtered extract usually contains the active ingredients of propolis.
Reduced pressure /vacuum concentration: The filtered extract is subjected to reduced pressure concentration treatment to remove excess ethanol solvent and obtain propolis extract. Reduced pressure concentration helps to maintain the active ingredients in propolis from being destroyed.
3、Afterprocessing
Purification: Further purify the propolis extract as needed to remove residual impurities and unwanted components. Purification methods may include recrystallization, chromatographic separation, etc.
4.Drying
Dry the purified propolis extract to remove moisture and residual solvents. The dried propolis extract should have good stability and preservation.

To optimize the extractive method for propolis. With total llavonoids as the evaluating index, the optimum extractive process was studied by microwave and ultrasonic technology with orthogoral test. The optimum resuits as follows: 80 % alcohol as solvent and dose of 15-fold medicinal materials, the power of microwave 600 W, the treatment time of microwave 5 min, and the ultrasonic extracing two times, 20 min in each time at 70℃ in water
