1) Raw material pretreatment

4) Solvent extraction
Transfer the alkaline filtrate to a separatory funnel, add organic solvents (such as chloroform, ether, carbon tetrachloride, etc.), and shake for 3 extractions.
5) After settling and layering, collect the upper or lower organic phase (depending on the solvent density) and combine the extracts.
6) Concentration and Recycling
Heating distillation is used to remove the solvent and obtain crude nicotine residue.
Attention: Low boiling point solvents such as ether should be avoided from open flames to prevent explosions.
7) Purification and detection
Further purification can be achieved through methods such as recrystallization and column chromatography.
Perform component analysis and purity testing using chromatographic methods such as gas chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography.
(Additional explanation) In actual industry, "secondary extraction" or "counter current extraction" may also be used to optimize the yield, such as repeatedly extracting and removing impurities after adjusting the pH.
