Product Detail

Soxhlet extraction equipment (also known as fat analyzer or Soxhlet extractor) is a standard tool for laboratory testing of crude fat and organic components, widely used in fields such as food, feed, soil, and medicine. Traditional devices rely on manual siphoning and water bath heating, while modern equipment has evolved into an automated system that integrates heating, extraction, solvent recovery, cooling, and pre drying, complying with more than ten national/industry standards such as GB/T 14772-2008

Compared with traditional devices, the fully automatic Soxhlet extraction equipment has achieved comprehensive upgrades in efficiency, accuracy, safety, and intelligence, especially with the four core selling points of "20% -80% efficiency improvement", "± 1 ℃ high-precision temperature control", "≥ 94% solvent recovery rate", and "national standard method compliance".

principle
The Soxhlet extraction equipment operates based on the principles of solvent reflux and siphon circulation: heating the organic solvents (such as petroleum ether and anhydrous ether) in the extraction bottle to vaporize them, and the vapor rises through the connecting tube to the condenser for liquefaction before dripping into the extraction tube to extract the target components (such as crude fat) from the sample in the filter paper cylinder; When the liquid level rises to the top of the siphon tube, the solvent containing solutes automatically siphons back to the extraction bottle; This process is repeated to achieve continuous and efficient extraction of solid samples using pure solvents. Specially designed for lipid extraction, now extended to the separation of non-volatile/semi volatile organic compounds in soil, feed, and traditional Chinese medicine

Extraction process flow

The Soxhlet extraction method is based on the principles of solvent reflux and siphon, achieving efficient extraction through continuous circulation. The specific process is as follows:
Sample preparation
Solid samples need to be ground to a fine powder (such as through a 40 mesh sieve) to increase the solvent contact area.
The sample is loaded into a filter paper cylinder or extraction cylinder, and the top is sealed with degreased cotton to prevent leakage.
Solvent heating and reflux
Add organic solvents (such as ether, petroleum ether) to the extraction bottle and heat to boiling (water bath temperature is usually 55-80 ℃).
The solvent vapor enters the condenser tube through the side tube, liquefies and drips into the sample tube to soak the target compounds (such as fats and alkaloids).
Siphon cycle
When the liquid level exceeds the height of the siphon tube, the solvent containing the target compound automatically refluxes to the extraction bottle, forming a cycle.
The number of cycles is adjusted according to the nature of the sample (grains require 6-8 hours, and high-fat samples require more than 10 hours).
Solvent recovery and product collection
After extraction, distill and recover the solvent (recovery rate ≥ 80%).

Extract crude fat or target compounds from the bottle, dry and weigh them, and calculate the content

Application field
The Soxhlet extraction equipment plays a key role in multiple fields due to its high efficiency and wide applicability:
Food and Agriculture
Determine the crude fat content in grains, feed, and edible oils.
Detect pesticide residues and food additives (such as fat soluble components in mooncakes).
Pharmaceuticals and Natural Products
Extract effective ingredients from Chinese herbal medicine, such as alkaloids and flavonoids.
Separate plant essential oils or active substances for drug development.
environmental monitoring
Analyze organic pollutants (such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and insecticides) in soil and sludge.
Extract oil and volatile organic compounds from water.
Chemical and Materials Science
Extract plasticizers from polymers and rosin from paper.
Used in the petroleum industry for crude oil component analysis (such as benzene derivatives)
