Herbal medicines are soaked in the tank and heated with steam for a specified duration to extract the active ingredients. The duration of decoction varies depending on the properties of the materials. Due to differences in the shape of herbs and the difficulty of extracting active components, the recommended loading volume should not exceed two-thirds of the tank’s capacity. When extracting essential oils, the secondary steam is condensed and cooled, allowing the oil-water mixture to enter the oil-water separator. Light oil is discharged from the upper part of the separator, while heavy oil is discharged from the lower part. The water is either discharged via overflow or recirculated. The resulting extract (or decoction) is then sent to the concentration process.
